Initiation into the Four Elements

Which really means initiation into the five elements. Recall the fifth is always implied if not stated.

What is a Magical Initiation

A magical initiation has various purposes. This specific initiation:

1. Marks the start of your journey on this section of the magical path.

2. Authorizes your unconscious mind and soul to officially proceed with elemental magic study and practice.

3. Passes a magical token to you (via your energetic matrix or spirit guides) carrying my understanding, capability, and my intention for you to surpass me.

4. Serves as both the initiating act and the ongoing training exercise to build your connection to the elemental codex.

Act of Elemental Initiation

(Also Ongoing Exercise to Build Proficiency in Elemental Magic)

Find a private space with room to move. Allocate a minimum of fifteen minutes, ideally thirty minutes, to relax into the process.

Materials for this Work

You have three material options:

Note on Materials: Don't delay the procedure if you lack ideal materials. Use what you have (any incense/candle color is fine). Colored shapes can be cut or drawn. If materials are impossible to obtain, proceed with your imagination and visualize an object in each position during the placement steps.

IMPORTANT!

If you are unable to perform the physical movements (standing, walking, etc.), do not stop. Improvise by leaning, sitting, or whatever you can do. If movement is impossible, close your eyes and vividly imagine performing the actions. Magic is still accessible to you; be creative.

Read through this exercise multiple times and memorize every action and word so you can focus on feeling and intention during the work. Pay attention to all detail notes.

Relax First

Sit or stand with a straight back and take a minute or two to release all body tension. Focus on and release tightness, especially in your neck, shoulders, and hips. Appreciate the relaxed state.

Initializing Breaths to Prepare the Operator (That'd be you.)

These cleansing breaths release stagnant energy, recharge your being, and level your awareness.

1. Exhale: Push out all old air, feeling heavy, old energy pass out.

2. Inhale: Breathe in deeply, filling your lungs from bottom to top, knowing you are drawing in renewed, vibrant energy.

3. Hold a few seconds, then repeat. (Steps 1-3 are one breath.)

Take 3, 6, or 9 breaths, whichever feels best.

Preparing the Space

Chant the following slowly four (or eight) times: RA MA

• "RA": Think up, forward, project, outward, masculine.

• "MA": Think down, back, receive, inward, feminine.

The full chant is: RA MA RA MA RA MA RA MA!

This balances the active-passive (male-female) energy of the space and reinforces the harmonization of your own energetic poles from the cleansing breaths.

Call the Attention of Spirit

Look up and say: "Crown of the Father, the Sky, Air and Fire above me!"

Look down and say: "Throne of the Mother, the Ground, Earth and Water below me!"

Point your right index finger up (curling the others back) and your left index finger down (thumb pressed forward).

With hands pointing up and down:

Look up, say: "Ahhh! EEEEE! Heavens know me!"

Look down, say: "ZZZZ! Uhhhh! Underworld know me!"

Keep your fingers pointed and look ahead. Visualize a bright yellow sun ahead, hold the image, and then let it fade. This direction is now Magical East.

If Performing this in Daylight Hours

Bring hands to sides and face Magical East. Imagine a silvery moon appearing behind you, illuminating your back, then fade it out.

Say: "Send round about me agents of the four qualities."

Raise your dominant hand and, as you turn a complete circle back to Magical East, use your pointing finger to trace a white or blue-white circle of light in the air all the way around you.

If Performing this at Night

Bring hands to sides and turn to Magical West (opposite East). Visualize the moon appear and light up the space, then fade it out.

Say: "Send round about me agents of the four qualities."

With your dominant hand, trace a white or blue-white circle of light in the air all the way around yourself, returning to West.

After tracing the circle, acknowledge this circle is your magical work space for initiation into elemental magic.

Creating Vessels for the Four Pillars

Start facing Magical East and make the following callings in order:

1. Magical East (Air): Raise your arms to the sides, turn a complete circle, imagining spiraling wind. Face East and say "Elemental air come to the first pillar." Visualize a creature of air appear.

2. Magical South (Fire): Turn right to face South. Place palms together in front of your solar plexus, fingers pointing like a spear. Take three straight steps forward, imagining your spirit rushing into the distance. Return to your body and say "Elemental fire come to the second pillar." Visualize a creature of fire appear.

3. Magical West (Water): Turn right to face West. Make flowing waves with your arms. Step backwards at a 45-degree angle (lifting foot to knee height, imagining a water wave pushing it back). Say "Elemental water come to the third pillar." Visualize a creature of water appear.

4. Magical North (Earth): Turn right to face North. Bend your knees as if to sit, then straighten, sinking your weight into your legs, imagining a stone statue. Say "Elemental earth come to the fourth and final pillar." Visualize a creature of earth appear.

Turn back to the East and say with intention:

Filling the Vessels and Setting Agents at Each Pillar

"Before the sky and the ground, in view of the sun and moon, from the essence within me and the virtues of spirit in nature I have laid the vessels out! Now fill them with life and they in turn fortify and attune me, then endorse and protect me henceforth in magical work!"

Next, walk the circle to place your items of correspondence and call on the authority of each element to seal your initiation.

Important: Place the item outside the circle at the compass point where you visualized a spirit. The physical item serves as a focal/anchor point. The subsequent calling appeals to the elemental hierarchy; say the words with feeling and intention.

Magical East

Light your incense or place your yellow circle just outside the magic circle.

Call to the ruling spirits of elemental air: "Ariel, Chasan, Pawrola send a fourth agent of the air to fill the vessel I have placed!"

Expect the request to be granted and welcome an elemental spirit to the pillar (charged field). You are calling for a "fourth agent" after the three ruling names.

Magical South

Light your candle or place the red triangle centered at magical south just outside the magic circle.

Call to the ruling spirits of elemental fire: "Seraph, Arel, Djinn send a fourth agent of fire to fill the vessel I have placed!"

Magical West

Place your cup of liquid or your blue wave at magical west just outside the magic circle, lined up perfectly with the item at magical east across from it.

Call to the rulers of water: "Tharsis, Taliahad, Nixus send a fourth agent of water to fill the vessel I have placed!"

Magical North

Place your salt, stone, or green square at magical north just outside the magic circle, across from the item at Magical South.

Call on the rulers of earth: "Kerub, Phorlock, Ghob send a fourth agent of earth to fill the vessel I have placed!"

The four items should be neatly placed at the compass points. North-South and East-West items must be perfectly aligned, creating an equal-armed cross centered in the circle. Visualize a perfect, equal-armed cross connecting the four points with a north-south beam and an east-west beam.

Final Charging of the Quarters

Return to face Magical East.

The four pillars, now marked by your items outside the circle, are attended by four elemental agents to witness your initiation.

Facing forward, touch each pillar in turn with your mind:

1. North (Earth): Focus your awareness here. Think of Earth qualities: security, safety, abundance, good health, and confidence. Feel strong, heavy, and durable. Welcome the agent of earth.

2. West (Water): Settle your awareness here (behind you). Think of Water qualities: relaxation and adaptability ("go with the flow"). Imagine troubles rolling off you. Feel intuitive and creative, relaxed and flexible. Think of good friendship. Welcome the agent of water.

3. South (Fire): Focus your awareness here. Think of Fire qualities: intensity and ambition (what a great sorcerer you shall become!). Feel your mind be quick and assertive, excited to enact magic. Feel speed and explosiveness; think about transforming into your ideal self. Welcome the agent of fire.

4. East (Air): Bring your attention here (in front of you). Think of Air qualities: personal growth and expansion. Anticipate filling your mind with knowledge and future explorations. Visualize your mind as a clear crystal, allowing perfect communication with your soul and guides. Welcome the agent of air.

5. Center/Axis: Place your awareness deep within yourself, be still. Send your awareness up into the far heavens, be still. Bring it back, then send it through the ground into the underworld's depths, be still. Know that spirit, from the crown, the throne, the sun, and the moon, has moved through every part of this working.

Seal Your Initiation Into the Magic of the Five Elements

Here is the final incantation:

"Movements of spirit from the four directions, on your pillars hear and behold me.

I honor your virtues and qualities.

Witness my commitment to understand all four.

I am known by the fifth and stand at the door.

Mind, body, and essences I enter!

Now attune well and fortify me.

Endorse my work and protect my energy.

Henceforth in stillness and rhythm, quickness and authority,

I will watch your course and cycle, when I call you return to me."

Stand in the raised energy for a moment.

Then say "With my thanks and in peace depart. Come again when I call."

Walk the circle from East to South, West, and finally North, picking up the items or extinguishing the flame/incense. Pour the salt and liquid out onto the earth afterward or leave the stone on the ground.

The work is finished, and you are initiated.

Explanation of The Work

This section explains what the operation accomplished.

Entered Altered State

By relaxing and focusing your intention during the initializing breaths, you achieved an altered state of consciousness. This state is essential for enacting magic, as it allows you to connect with subtle energies and magical currents.

Connected with Active and Passive Spirit

Since spirit regulates the four elements, calling on the divine masculine and feminine engaged both poles of spirit as a working medium. This connection was anchored and further coordinated by harnessing the intelligences of the sun and moon.

Raised a Sacred Space

The RA MA chant harmonized the area, allowing you to raise a magic circle. This circle clears psychic debris, elevates and harnesses your power, separates you from mundane time/space, and prevents negative energy from interfering.

Created Charged Fields as Receptacles

Your words, intentions, movements, and visualization created four initial charged fields of elemental energy. These focal points, set at the compass points around the circle, resonate with elemental energy.

Called Elemental Agents or Spirits to the Quarters

The compass points (quarters) channel elemental forces. The magical energy you raised, combined with the resonant items of correspondence, tapped into the elemental hierarchy to call elementals into your charged fields.

The three names called for each element were: the archangel, a service angel, and the sublunary elemental ruler (spirit in the earthly realm). This is a top-down engagement of spirit: calling the "general" to authorize the "major" who then deploys the "captain" to send the correct "unit" or "operator."

This ensured your quarters, or pillars, received an appropriate elemental presence (sentient spirits or semi-intelligent forces) for the work.

Entered into Contract and Sealed the Work

You contracted the elemental presences to attune your energy bodies to elemental frequencies and bear witness to your entry into elemental magic. You are now prepared for future learning and development.

This ritual is only needed once. Going forward, a simple "Come to the pillar in the north elemental earth" will suffice.
