Before Learning Anything About Astral Projection

Before I even talk about the different kinds of astral movements and different modes of soul travel I want you to try this exercise. It'd a good insight into the out-of-body perspective.

Relax

Begin by relaxing. You should be in a place where you won't be disturbed. Sit or stand or kneel as you wish, just relax as deeply as you can for a moment or two.

Count or breathe or whatever you usually do to just relax. Once you have reached a relaxed state, go ahead and relax again because most people will rush this part; you can be one of the few who don't rush and who actually gets into a good relaxed state.

You don't want to fall asleep but this is a good exercise if you've recently woke up or if you are a little tired. Being near a dream state helps with out-of-body work.

Sit Comfortably

Once you are very relaxed but still wakeful, sit on the floor with your legs crossed. You don't have to sit in any lotus position or lock your foot under your leg or anything like that. No Yoga pose required here, just cross your ankles.

If you cannot sit on the ground or cross your legs sit in a rocking chair. If you can't sit on the ground and don't have a rocking chair -- geez trouble maker -- you can try this sitting one the edge of a hard or sturdy chair.

Be comfortable. 

Stay Relaxed. Find the Center.

Once you are seated, either with crossed legs, in a rocking chair, or on the edge of a hard chair, relax one more time and settle your weight underneath you. Focus on your solar plexus a moment; this is the third chakra of your seven main chakras but it is also a commonly referenced place on the body.

The solar plexus is along your centerline in the middle of your torso. Between where the ribs meet and below the sternum. If you seek it, normally it will let you know where it is.

The solar plexus is in the middle of your upper body.

Find the solar plexus

Keep Relaxing and Enter the Center

Relax one more time. Take your time and do it right.

Focus on your solar plexus. Just sit and let your awareness rest there.

After a moment fully enter your solar plexus with your awareness. Close your eyes and go into the solar plexus and seat your consciousness in the center of it.

Really inhabit the solar plexus chakra. Be inside of it; the space around you is the solar plexus in the center of your torso.

Shift your awareness into your third eye for a moment. Inhabit the sphere between and just above your physical eyes. Draw focus and mystical energy from here, then return to the solar plexus.

Rocking Back and Forth

Rock backwards slowly a far as you can. Then rock forward and continue the back and forth motion.

If you're in a rocking chair you have this  covered. Keep rocking.

If seated on the ground shift back and rock, letting your crossed legs raise off the ground a little. Shift forward and lean onto your legs. Rock back. Rock forward. 

All the while remain centered in your solar plexus. To be clear I mean keep your awareness in the middle of the solar plexus as you rock.

Keep rocking for a few minutes. At least keep the motion up for three minutes.

Stop but Keep Going

Stop your body's rocking and sit still with your back straight. However in your mind continue rocking back and forth.

Don't think about yourself rocking like you are watching a move. When your body stops  your awareness in the solar plexus will keep the experience going through vivid imagination from the inside.

Experience the back and forward rocking just as you have experienced for the last few minutes. Back. Forward. Repeat.

I feel like this is horribly worded but I hope you understand what I am telling you to do.

Keep rocking back and forth as your body sits still and straight for another minute.

When you are ready, time your forward motion, and when you reach the end of your forward rock stop the rocking and use the momentum built up to step forward out of your physical body.

Read that as many times as needed to get what I am saying. Then try it. Journal about the experience.
